Who is behind this site

EPC Checker is independent. The Valuation Office Agency, the Scottish Assessors, Ofgem, the government EPC register and each grant scheme are all separate from us. We only use scheme names to describe them.

Privacy

The checkers run inside your browser. We never receive the postcode, letter or dates you choose. If you ask to open the official register, it gets your typed postcode and nothing else does.

A quote request sends us your postcode, type of home, reason, name and email. Those details let us send your request to as many as three assessors or installers covering your area. Our basis is your request, given as consent, plus our legitimate interest in running the service. Each request is kept for 12 months, then it gets deleted.

We track page views, clicks and tool use ourselves. Our own code on this site does the counting, with no cookies and no outside analytics firm.

To get a copy of your details, correct an error, have them erased or object to their use, email us. You may take a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if our reply leaves you unhappy.

Conditions of use

Each guide sets out its rules in plain words, and each one links to the official source. They offer general information, not legal or financial advice. Figures and rules shift over time, so act only after checking the official page.

The businesses that quote, whether assessors or installers, are all independent. Any work that gets done is something you and they agree on.
